As a writer, any project that you release feels kind of like putting your baby out there.

Giving birth to something really personal and vulnerable. It is expression and worship and encouragement and us, mingled among words and paragraphs. We pray this baby won’t be rejected as we put it out there for our part of the world to see.

But this was not necessarily the case with Milk & Honey in the Land of Fire & Ice

This little book demanded so much more. She was not going to come easy and does not plan on going anywhere. She came with years of wrestling and struggle and after a move across the ocean from home. She was gonna make sure I understood WHO this was really all about and the ones her words were supposed to lift up.

And from there, whew, she has really grown into that sister/friend that is all up in your business. Not allowing the readers to stay stuck in insecurity and shame. Developing words into ways for others to step up and find their permission to cultivate their own sweet spots of identity, intimacy, influence…and the courage needed to flourish from those places.

This message even had the audacity to flow into a tangible way for others to release their own books.

Words and paragraphs and resources positioned to point others back to the only one who is worthy of all the effort.

Jesus.

So today, I don’t just celebrate the 1 year anniversary of this book. But during this time when our attention turns more acutely to the cross, I reflect on the promises of God that are truly Yes and Amen. I am thankful to be where I am, in the midst of snow and volcanoes, seeing God do things I never imagined. I get giddy about the ones who are finding their own footing in who they are in Christ and what they are called to do from that place. And I lean in, embracing whatever it takes to stay in that place where God pours in whatever needs to be poured out.
