Process & Additional Information

I’m so excited that you are considering becoming a Milk & Honey Books author! We are a hybrid publisher dedicated to releasing resources, encouraging writers and publishing creative & Christ-centered books. If you feel like this fits you, keep reading.

PROCESS

First, contact with your project info by using this FORM. After reviewing your response, I will send a link to schedule a zoom meeting if I feel like it is a good fit for Milk & Honey Books (MHB). Based on our conversation and your publishing goals/needs, you will receive a proposal with estimated timeline and fees.

As a hybrid publisher/self-publishing company, clients receive advances or royalties. I help clients set up their books to either publish through their own imprint or under the Milk & Honey Books imprint.

After this time, if you want to move forward, you will receive a customized agreement to sign. Once the agreement is signed on both ends, invoice sent and deposit paid, I’ll will begin working on your project and helping you publish your book.

PRICING

Although there is a standard price list, you will receive a quote from MHB that is customized to your project need and specifications because no two books are the same. This will be determined by your individual project need, goals, quality and word count. I want to make sure this process is tailor fit to you and to Milk & Honey Books as a missions-based hybrid publisher.

You may also need additional services like full editing, complicated cover design, ghostwriting, etc. that we currently don’t provide, so you will need additional funds to hire those out.

We only review Christian faith based, inspirational or books with redemptive themes.

PUBLISHING

Becoming a Milk & Honey Books Author (or the self-publishing set up package) is a great option for those who have a book on their hearts that is well-written, but don’t have the platform to attract agents and/or traditional publishing houses. It is also a good fit for those who serve on the mission field, in areas of ministry, or who have a book to release and need personal help from the beginning to end of the process. You may not even want the book sold through distribution channels, but just need a low cost way to print books in bulk for various needs. That is what we can help with. And because your book will represent you and Milk & Honey Books, we want it to be a professional and polished as possible.  Publishing time can take approximately 3 months after a complete and EDITED manuscript is received.

POTENTIAL

The beautiful part about this option is that once everything is done, you as the author keep all the royalties and profits. You won’t have to worry about anyone else taking a chunk out of what you make from book sales because you have put up the cost on the front it. You will have control over your content & rights with the professional component of being published by a company and our logo on your book. Additionally, you will be featured on our author page and have your book highlighted in our shop.

*Keep in mind that the price does not include editing. Projects must be fully edited by an outside editor before submission. This helps the process move as smoothly as possible.

INTERIOR DESIGN

  • Formatting & Layout of print & ebook (up to 50,000 words, after that an additional cost of .01 per word will be added for the 1st print format only)
  • Additional format option, large print, hardcover or journal using MHB template
  • Light Proofreading/editing* (after manuscript has already been professionally edited)

EXTERIOR DESIGN

  • Cover design based on formatted pages & trim size
  • 5-10 custom print cover designs to choose from (you can bring your own images & ideas if you choose)
  • Milk & Honey Logo on book (see SELF-PUBLISHING SET-UP if you want to publish under your own imprint or logo)

PUBLISHING

  • ISBN number assignment for up to 3 book versions
  • US Copyright Application
  • 10 custom graphics related to cover to use for promotion
  • Keyword assistance
  • Assistance setting up a self-managed Amazon & Ingram Spark account. The author will set up their own Ingram Spark or Amazon account in order to manage their own profits. MHB can help with the upload process.

SUPPORT

  • Coaching throughout the process
    • Two 1-Hour Consultations (2022 change)
  • Domain name, website & email list set up tips
  • Dedicated/private page for authors on milkandhoneybooks.com
  • Promotion on Milk & Noney sites and shop page
  • Writing journal or planner

*Light-Editing/proofreading is done in order to help with the flow of the manuscript for formatting purposes and to ensure alignment with Milk & Honey vision/mission. But it does not replace professional edting. Clients should bring the most FINAL and EDITED version of their manuscript to the project. 

**Packages do not include printing books. This is a separate cost that will be done through your self-managed distribution account.
