I needed the reminder this morning. With a rising mountain of prayer needs and pressing issues, with economic breakdowns and health crises, with the limitations and weakness of our humanity, I just needed Him. He is needed always. But sometimes we forget that Jesus, in and of himself, is absolutely more than enough.
As I cried out to him in prayer, asking for understanding for things that I didn’t have the answers for, I looked down at what I planned to read from the Bible. Romans 12. The first and second verse were balm to my heart.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 NIV
What life the word of God brings to us. It is truly the daily bread we need to consume on a daily basis. I couldn’t help but sing a broken and probably off key song thanking the Lord because He gives what we need when we need it. I didn’t need another method or even message in this moment, I just needed to call on Jesus. I needed to surrender my will and worries to Him and just worship. Aren’t you glad that we don’t have to conform, we don’t have to let the world’s thought processes be our own? Instead when we allow our minds to be renewed we will actually have better clarity to see the things we are facing with God’s perspective and to walk in the ways that please His heart.
So this morning I just prayed Jesus.
Sometimes this is all we can pray. But His name is above every other name that screams at you and its ALWAYS enough. HE is enough. No matter what language you say His name in Y’shua, Jésus, Jesús, Jēsū, Iēsous, Jezui, 耶稣, Jisu, Hesús, Jisos, Yesu, Jezus, Isus, Jesu… in all of Heaven and Earth there is no other name by which men can be saved. There is no other name that can rescue us. There is no other name that is a stronger tower that we can run to.
“From the END of the EARTH will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the ROCK that is higher than I.” Psalms 61:2 KJV
