The first few weeks in our home waking up each morning there was such an overwhelming sense of thankfulness that the Lord allowed us to build our home how He did. And that we were able to find the property and view that we have. This is our 5th home in almost 10 years but our 1st build. We started flipping homes with the intent to be debt free eventually and to settle down into a house. We wanted to have the freedom to go and do as a family without living under financial pressures. This home and the view it has was not on our radar when we started the process, so it does feel like a gift to our lives. We were able to design each detail very specifically to have a place that not only has a safe space for our four boys to come home to but to be able to grow great friendships as a family. We want to be a home with open doors to do that.
When designing the home we wanted it to feel very bright and open. I love that in our main living areas we are all together and the space is so open.
Above is my favorite spot in the house in with the front door leading out from the main living area and also our master bedroom. The sun rises into our bedroom every morning and none of that was planned so each one feels like a gift. I believe God is into every detail and that He loves us so specifically. So that sunlight is a reminder of that great love and His specific care towards us.
My husband’s biggest desire for our home was a walkout basement so when our friend, who is a realtor, sent us the listing on this lot and we saw the view and the slope of the lot, we instantly fell in love knowing we could build a walkout basement home. We wanted space for the boys to build good friendships. We also wanted them to have the space to run and play where we could still hear them from upstairs but that could maybe muffle the noise level a tad. As you can imagine with four boys, that noise level can rise often.
We have two guest bedrooms downstairs because we really wanted our home to be a place for others to find rest and to cultivate friendships in.
We are grateful to be home and it’s so much more to us than material things but evidence that God is faithful to bless us beyond what we can think up and that He desires for us to rest in his presence in our homes and in our families.
